Who we are

What we collect
When you contact us, send a booking request, or book or buy something on this website, we collect your name, email address and telephone number, and anything you choose to tell us in your message. Booking requests may include details you give us about medical conditions, injuries or dietary needs so that we can run your course safely.
Why we collect it
- To reply to your enquiry and to arrange, run and manage the services we provide.
- To maintain quality assurance for our clients.
- To keep you up to date with our current services and activities, only if you have given us permission.
All data is collected with the permission of its owner and will be destroyed on the owner's instruction, unless we are required by law to keep it (for example, accounting records).
How the website handles your information
- Forms on this website send your details by email to info@chriscravenmountaineering.co.uk. The website itself does not keep a copy.
- When you buy a course or field manual, you pay on a secure page run by Stripe. We receive your name, email address, phone number, any preferred dates you give and what you bought, so we can arrange your course or send your manual. Your card details go only to Stripe; we never see them. We keep order records for six years, as UK tax law requires.
- The site is hosted by IONOS, which processes data on our behalf to run the website.
- We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, or analytics.
- Our page fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address with Google.
- If you close the news banner, your browser remembers that choice on your own device. Nothing is sent to us.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for up to two years after we last worked with you. Booking and payment records are kept for six years, as UK tax law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to or restrict how we use it, and receive a copy of it. Email info@chriscravenmountaineering.co.uk and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
