Summit Fever App Privacy Policy
- Your plan, progress, recordings and photos are kept on your own phone or browser. We don’t receive them.
- We only get information from you when you send us a message, buy a plan or use an access code.
- If you turn on Friends, the progress you choose to share is stored with Google Firebase so your friends can see it. Turning Friends off deletes it.
- No adverts, no tracking and no analytics. We never sell your information.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from My account › Delete account.
Who we are
Summit Fever is a training plan app made by Chris Craven Mountaineering. We are the “controller” of the personal information described here.

This policy covers the Summit Fever app for iPhone and Android and the Summit Fever website.
Information kept on your device
To build and run your plan, the app stores the following only on your phone (or in your web browser if you use the website):
- Your account: name, preferred name, email address, phone number (optional) and profile photo (optional). Your password and recovery code are stored only as secure, one-way scrambled versions.
- About you: age, height, weight, your answers to the fitness questions and your reasons for training.
- Your plan: start date, target altitude, ticked sessions, notes, training weekend requests and fitness checks.
- Recordings you add: titles, GPX tracks, effort ratings and photos.
- Badges you’ve earned.
Age, height, weight and fitness answers are used only to tailor your plan, on your device. We don’t receive them unless you choose to send them to us in a message.
Because this information stays on your device, deleting the app or clearing your browser’s data also deletes it. We can’t recover it for you.
When you contact us
If you use Send now in the app, your message, name, email address and any phone number you include are sent to us through Formspree, a form service based in the United States, which passes it to our email. If you choose your own email app instead, the message goes from your email account to ours in the usual way.
We use these messages to answer you, provide coaching and arrange training weekends.
When you buy a plan
When you buy a plan, membership, upgrade or pass in the app, you pay on a secure page run by Stripe, our payment provider. To set up the payment, the app sends your name, your email address and what you’re buying to our website (chriscravenmountaineering.co.uk, hosted by IONOS), which passes them to Stripe. Card details go only to Stripe: we never see or store them, and the app doesn’t collect any payment information.
Once you’ve paid, our website gives you an access code, records it against your name and email address with what you bought, when and how much you paid, and emails the code to you. If you return to the app after paying, the app collects the code and unlocks your plan for you.
When an access code is used in the app, the app sends the code and your email address to our website to check that the code hasn’t already been used by another account. That’s all it sends.
If you choose a coached plan or a training weekend, we also keep notes from your check-in calls and anything you tell us about your training so we can coach you properly.
Friends (only if you turn it on)
Friends is switched off unless you turn it on. When you do:
- The app creates an anonymous account with Google Firebase, our friends service. It doesn’t use your email address or password.
- Your first name or preferred name, your friend code, your plan progress, badges and recent recordings are stored in Firebase. If you leave photo sharing on, small copies of your recording photos are stored too.
- Only people you accept as friends can see this. Your age, weight, fitness answers and notes are never shared.
- Turn off friends deletes everything you shared, removes you from your friends’ lists and deletes the anonymous account.
Links to other services
Some buttons open other services, such as AllTrails, Strava, Google search, the Ministry of Defence firing times page, your calendar, your email app or a payment page. Those services have their own privacy policies. The app doesn’t send them any of your information except what’s needed to open the page, such as the name of a route you searched for.
Why we can use your information
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR), we rely on:
- Contract: to provide the plan, coaching or training weekend you bought.
- Consent: for Friends, and for any health-related details you choose to send us. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: to answer your questions and keep simple business records.
- Legal obligation: to keep accounting records.
How long we keep it
- Information on your device: until you delete it, delete your account or remove the app.
- Friends data: until you turn Friends off or delete your account.
- Messages and coaching notes: up to two years after we last worked with you.
- Purchase records: six years, as UK tax law requires.
Sharing and international transfers
We never sell your information or use it for advertising. We only share it with the services named above (Formspree, Google Firebase, Stripe and our website host IONOS), which act on our behalf. Some of them store information in the United States; they protect it with safeguards approved under UK law, such as standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You have the right to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to or restrict how we use it, and receive a copy of it. To ask, email info@chriscravenmountaineering.co.uk. We’ll reply within one month.
To delete everything stored on your device, go to My account › Delete account in the app.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Children
Summit Fever is designed for adults. It isn’t intended for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Security
Passwords and recovery codes are never stored in a readable form. Information sent to Formspree and Firebase travels over encrypted connections. Keep your phone locked and your password private, because anyone who can open the app on your phone can see your plan.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app.
